Nikolai Myaskovsky Sonata in D, op.12

Dominic teams up with world renowned cellist Alexander Baillie to record Myaskovsky’s impassioned Sonata for Piano and Cello. Here they play the second movement.

Published in Paul Auster’s anthology, True Tales of American Life, Dominic set the words of Steve Hale’s anecdote to music, scored for two singers and piano.

Lucky Rat

A counting game animation for pre-school children to celebrate Year of the Rat. Commissioned by DKS, Shanghai. Animation by Adrian Hornsby, music composed and performed by Dominic Harlan. 

Cemented

An extract from Dominic’s cantata for children choir. Words by Jamie Chetwood, aged 11.  Bricklayers working for the local council build a wall. As years go by, the wall sings of the drudgery of its existence. Trapped in a prison of graffiti and cemented to the spot, it notices that even the jeering plastic bags have more freedom.

After much soul-searching, each brick accepts that it is part of a bigger whole, and that their common purpose is to keep their ‘society' from crumbling...
